9/17 - 12/31 upSKILL Training for Unemployed Experienced IT & STEM Professionals

If you are unemployed and have experience in an Information Technology (IT) or Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, upSKILL could help you enhance the skills you need to get hired and move your career forward. upSKILL is a consortium of colleges, Workforce Investment Boards, industry partners and professional associations in northern New Jersey that has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to pay the tuition and fees for courses that build on your current skills to qualify you for IT & STEM jobs. Varies, Training is offered on the campuses of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University—Newark, and the Community Colleges of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris and Passaic Counties. Some courses are also offered online.
1/25 - 3/29 Crane House Guided Tours

If history is your passion than the Crane House and Historic YWCA in Montclair can help you travel back through 200 years of American History.  Located at 108 Orange Road, the Crane House has been reinterpreted to help you understand New Jersey from 1920-1965.  Guided tours happen Sundays in January through March from 1pm-4pm.  If you would like more information visit http://montclairhistorical.org/israel-crane-house/.

3/3 - 6/23 Historic YWCA Homeschool Classes

The Crane House and Historic YWCA will begin hosting Homeschool Classes beginning on March 3rd for kids 6-10 detailing the rich history of Montclair and New Jersey.  Beginning with a brief lecture on the subject the kids will then dive into crafts and activities to enrich their understanding of our history.  Space is limited so please register in advance for classes.  Registration is just $60 per child and can be done by phone at 973-744-1796 or by email at mail@montclairhistorical.org.  Visit http://montclairhistorical.org/events/homeschool-program-series-craft-your-way-through-history-2/ for more dates and information.

3/28 Morristown United Methodist Church Rummage Sale

On Saturday, March 28th, the 20th Anniversary of the Rummage Sale will be held at Morristown United Methodist Church beginning at 9am through 2pm.  Accepted items are dishes, plates, utensils, lines, computers, picture frames, tools, pet supplies and other household items.  Please do not donate any major appliances, gas powered equipment, mattresses, clothing or TV’s larger than 20 inch (must be flat screen).  Donations must be made no later than March 22nd.  For more information visit www.morristownumc.com or call 973-538-2132.  The Morristown United Methodist Church is located at 50 South Park Place in Morristown.

3/28 Whippanong Library 3rd Annual Craft Fair

Join the Whippanong Library for their 3rd Annual Craft fair Luncheon, and Mini Tricky Tray on Saturday, March 28th.  The craft fair will be held at the Hanover Township Community Center located at 15 North Jefferson Road in Whippany from 10am through 4pm.  Proceeds will benefit the Whippanong Library.  For more information visit http://www.whippanong.org/.

3/28 Home Buyers Expo

3/29 17th Annual Metro Vintage Advertising Collectors Show

The 17th Annual Metro Vintage Advertising Collectors Show will take place on Sunday March 29th, 8am through 1pm rain or shine.  This year, the show will take place at the Pompton Lakes Elks Lodge located at 15 Perrin Ave in Pompton Lakes.  The event will feature all forms of collectible items, old toys, TV/Movie/Music memorabilia, and so much more.  Admission and parking are free but donations will be accepted to benefit ECCR, to support children with disabilities.  The Elks will also be serving breakfast, lunch with homemade baked goods and beverages for purchase.

4/4 Schooners Fishery Presents A Nashville Style Guitar Pull

Schooners Fishery presents Steve Delopoulos, Joe Miller, Steve Reilly and many more in a charity Nashville Style Guitar Pull to help benefit Hope For Children Foundation!  The concert will take place at Middletown Art Center located at 36 Church Street in Middletown, NJ.  Along with the great live music, there will be table vendors, a silent auction and a guitar giveaway!  Victuals, adult beverages, and the auction will begin at 4pm and the concert itself begins at 6pm!  Tickets are just $40 and can be purchased at the box office 732-706-4100 or by visiting https://mac.booktix.com.

4/7 Introduction to British Genealogy

On April 7th the Morris Area Genealogy Society will host a free presentation  at the Morris County Library discussing British Genealogy.  Genealogist Melissa Johnson will show you how to research your British Ancestry using the internet and other forms of resources.  The presentation begins at 7pm in the large public meeting room of the library.  Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30p.  The Morris County Public Library is located at 30 East Hanover Ave in Whippany.  For any questions you can contact the library at 973-285-6930 or visit the Morris Area Genealogy Society’s website at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com.

4/11 7th Annual Todd’s Night Out

The 7th Annual Todd’s Night Out Fundraiser will take place on April 11th   beginning at 6pm at the Pompton Lakes Elks Lodge located on 15 Perrin Ave in Pompton Lakes.  Tickets are just $65 per person and includes buffet dinner,  beer, wine, and soda.  There will be live entertainment featuring Rik Emmett!  For more information call 973-978-2984.

4/25 Bowl for the Future of New Jersey’s Foster Animals

On Saturday, April 25th Future of New Jersey’s Foster Animals will be hosting a Bowl-A-Thon at Brunswick Zone located at 1400 Route 36 in Hazlet.  Check in will be at 5:30pm and an entry fee of $25 that will include 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, 2 slices of pizza/drink and a donation to Foster’s Future and the MCSPCA Pittie Project.  Checks can be made payable to Foster’s Future/Fosters Future PO Box 123 in Hazlet, NJ 07730.

4/26 March for Babies

4/29 Veteran’s Job Fair

4/30 MCHS The Giving Tree Gala and Silent Auction

Join the Morris County Historical Society at it’s The Giving Tree Gala and Silent Auction on April 30th.  The Gala will be held at the Westin Governor in Morristown located at 2 Whippany Road in Morristown beginning at 6pm.  Funds raised from the Gala will help support the effort to restore the MCHS four acre woodlot at Acorn Hall that was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.  For ticket information you can call 973-267-3465.

6/13 Valerie Fund 5K

The Valerie Fund 5K race will be held here in New Jersey on June 13th!  Registration begins at 7am and is $35 per runner.  Race begins at 8:15 at Verona Park in Verona!  All proceeds will go to fight childhood cancers and blood disorders.  For more information and to register to receive your bib number in the mail visit https://www.thevaleriefund.org/Walk2015/.
