If you are unemployed and have experience in an Information Technology (IT) or Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, upSKILL could help you enhance the skills you need to get hired and move your career forward. upSKILL is a consortium of colleges, Workforce Investment Boards, industry partners and professional associations in northern New Jersey that has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to pay the tuition and fees for courses that build on your current skills to qualify you for IT & STEM jobs. Varies, Training is offered on the campuses of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University—Newark, and the Community Colleges of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris and Passaic Counties. Some courses are also offered online.

Bergen County’s only non-profit agency for victims of domestic violence, Shelter Our Sisters  provides services for both adults and children.  Not only do they offer shelter, but also services ranging from counseling, mentoring,  job training and therapy for children. 6/29 - 7/31 Long Road Home America

Richard King, a resident of Ridgewood and Vietnam veteran, is taking the “long road home”. Starting on June 29th, King will be riding a 10,000 mile solo motorcycle journey through the United States to raise awareness for mortgage free homes for physically challenged veterans. The “long road home America” will begin at the Rochelle Park American Legion where he will be sent off on his estimated 7 week journey. 7/25 Madison Community Pool Adult Night Out BBQ and Fundraiser

Come on out to the Madison Community Pool this coming Friday, 7/25, where there will be an Adult Night Out BBQ and Fundraiser from 7pm-10pm! $60 for double admission ($35 for single), which includes dinner (courtesy of Tiffany’s of Union, NJ), beer, wine, entertainment (courtesy of “First Kiss,” live and recorded hits from the 60s to today), and non-alcoholic beverages. 7/26 4th Annual Motorcycle Run for Jayden

Join us Saturday July 26th, 2014 for the 4th annual benefit motorcycle run for Jayden Singer!  Sponsored by the American Legion Riders post 174, The Passaic County Sheriff''s Department PBA locals 286 & 174
Ride begins at the Passaic County Public Safety Complex, 300 Oldham Road in Wayne. Registration is from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. The ride fee is $25.00 for the rider and $15.00 for a passenger. The ride fee includes food, drink, and entertainment at the end of the ride.
If you pre-register by May 31st you will receive a free T-shirt commemorating the day, these shirts will also be for sale the day of the event as a fundraiser for $10. The 90 mile police escorted ride will go through northern New Jersey.

8/2 Peach Festival and Country Auction

On Saturday, August 2 the annual Peach Festival and Country Auction will take place at the Community Presbyterian Church at 220 Main Street in Chester. 8/17 Blue Knights NJ Chapter VIII LawRide

On Sunday, August 17 the Blue Knights of NJ Chapter VIII will host their annual LawRide fundraiser. The police escorted motorcycle ride will start in two locations. Registration site one is Rockaway River Barn at 11 Green Pond Road in Rockaway, NJ and registration site two is Sam Ash Music Store at 155 Route 22 East in Springfield, NJ. Registration is at 9 AM. 9/18 Arc of Essex County Uncorked and Uncapped

Join the Arc of Essex County on September 18th for the Uncorked and Uncapped: Wine, Beer and Food Fest.  Hosted at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston, this event provides a wide selection of great wines, craft beers, and interactive food stations for all attendees.  Proceeds from Uncorked and Uncapped will be going to The Arc’s programs which support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Tickets for this event are $100 per person and can be found on the event website, www.uncorkedanduncapped.com

9/20 - 9/21 Bike MS: Country Challenge

Bike MS is having a Country Challenge on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21. Riders can choose a 100 Mile Ride (Saturday and Sunday), a 50 Mile Ride (either Saturday or Sunday), or a 20 Mile Ride (Saturday only). Registration is Saturday, September 20th at 7 AM with the ride starting at 8 AM. Registration is also Sunday, September 21st at 7 AM with the ride starting at 8 AM. The Saturday start is at 475 South Street in Morristown, NJ and the Sunday start is at the Hanover Marriott at 1401 Route 10 East in Whippany, NJ. 10/17 Homeless Solutions Women's day of Adventure

Join Homeless Solutions, Inc. on Tuesday, October 17th for the 7th annual Women’s Day of Adventure. Located at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, participants are able to choose a ‘morning adventure’ of boot camp, yoga, power walk, pilates or nine hole golf preceding a gourmet lunch and ticket auction at the club. Reduced ticket prices are available before August 1st; $275 for a 9 hole golf ticket, and $150 for all other adventure tickets. After August 1st, prices rise to $175 and $300.
